Ivor Jeffrey Jones. Glamorgan &
England 1960-1968. Jeff Jones made
his debut for Glamorgan in 1960 and
first first of fifteen appearances for
England against India in Bombay in
1963/64. He took 511 first class
wickets at 25.98 with a best of 8-11
v Leicestershire in 1965 and 44 Test
wickets at 40.29 with a best of 6-
118 v Australia at Adelaide on the
M.C.C. tour of Australia 1965/66.
On the 1967/68 tour of the West
Indies he played a leading role with
the bat blocking the last over of the
Final Test to secure England's 1-0
series win. His career was
prematurely ended by a serious
injury to his elbow in 1968. His son,
Simon, was an integral part of the
current England side until becoming
injured and was a major factor in
England winning the Ashes in 2005.
